AN EXTRAVAGANZA OF WEDDING ELEGANZA

The Honorable Father Moon officiated Susanna and Ricki’s (Kitten La Rue and Lou Henry Hoover) wedding last weekend at a celebration that included family and friends from the burlesque, drag and family worlds.

It was my first gay wedding – and it was so fun! Imagine a bouncy cage, free-flowing pink wine, a bubble machine, a DJ (before the wedding too!), pussies everywhere (Get it? Get it?), and outfits that were as outrageously entertaining as the characters wearing them.

Father Moon welcomed family and chosen family, noting there were too many to name, especially since most of the congregation had at least three names.

Loved ones strutted down the aisle in gold lame and carrying a single huge blue balloon, followed by the Atomic Bombshells in ‘50s-style yellow summer dresses tossing blue flower pedals to hoots and hollers from the restivus.

There was nary a dry eye when Father Moon announced, “With the power vested in me and the State of Washington, I now pronounce you wife and wife.”
